Lucy Rose - Lines
2013. 2. 2. 18:37Lucy really plays to her strength with Lines seeing her angelic voice being sang over a simple beat. The track comes across warm and welcoming, simple but elegant, yet it is really catchy. At times she mumbles like an innocent shy
chorus brings out her dominance trying to break out of that innocent shell “Tells you how to live your life / Looking for something more / Don’t wanna be nobody else / And you let them know that!”
You may not have come across this wistful young woman, but Lucy Rose lulls us with light and nostalgic musings to wash away the January blues. Also, what a fabulous name. Currently waiting in the wings of the folksy singer songwriter stage, her distinctive voice may well be familiar to you. She co-wrote and features on the song ‘Flaws’ from Bombay Bicycle Club and is even touring with them later this year. We are massive fans here at HMCMB, especially of her recent offering ‘Red Face’ which is due to be released February 27th.
The track develops a bit more rhythm and shows us a feistier side than her previous whimsical offerings ‘Middle of the Bed’ and ‘Scar’. Lamenting ‘you said it’s what I needed, I don’t believe it’, the song builds in momentum, like her voice, soothing yet powerful. There is certainly a darker and heavier feel.
Heart shaped face and reels of summery charm, it is pretty much impossible not to fall in love with Rose. I already am.
