It's all very well trying to come up with descriptions of other people's songs,

but why not just cut to the chase and ask them to describe their work themselves?

"The Conqueror is an off centred synthballad," explains Swedish-born singer Beatrice Eli.

"It's both big and small and dark and sweet at the same time".

That bit about being both big and small is especially true of a song that seems to almost topple

over under the weight of its emotional baggage but has a kind of fragile minimalism to it.
